Registration closes August 10, 2020 HackSTEMThink is a virtual hackathon from 8/15/2020 to 8/16/2020. The competition is completely free, and participants can compete individually or in groups of up to 4 people. Registration is open to rising 4th-10th graders across the world. No prior coding experience is required. If you are interested in competing alone, then fill out the form only once. HOWEVER, if you are competing in a team, list your team members AND have them submit separate forms as well. Teams can be a mix of people from different states, cities, schools, grade levels, and genders. **Note: If you would like to work in a team but don't have team members in mind, we will randomly assign you to a team with other participants who don't yet have a team. |
About the Event
A hackathon is a competition where participants work in groups of up to four people and have 24 hours to create some sort of technology (app, website) that addresses a theme or issue. HackSTEMThink’s theme is mental health, and participants will create a program that addresses a mental health issue in their community and/or aims to spread awareness about mental health. Participants will have the chance to win exciting prizes of up to $1,000, ranging from cash prizes to gifts from our generous sponsors. |

Q: How much does it cost to enter?
A: HackSTEMThink is completely free to participants. You'll have the chance to win cash prizes, attend networking workshops, coding classes, and hear from a panel of accomplished women in tech. Q: Who can enter? A: Anyone around the world entering grades 4th-10th can enter! Q: Is prior coding experience necessary? A: No! We'll be having workshops throughout the day that walk participants through all steps of app and website development. Q: When will winners be announced? A: Mid-September! Q: How will we be getting these prizes? A: US participants will be receiving prize bags delivered to them. We cannot ship items physically to those outside of the US because of COVID-19 restrictions. The cash prizes will be sent to winners electronically in the form of gift cards of their choice. We cannot convert prize money to international currency. All prizes will be given in dollars ($). Q: Can we see our scoresheets? A: All scores are confidential. However, all participants will receive constructive criticism from judges afterwards. Q: Who will be judging us? A: STEMThink team members who have experience with coding. Q: Can we appeal decisions? A: NO! All decisions are final! |
